SWANAGE & WAREHAM 2nd XV 36pts PUDDLETOWN 1st XV 33pts
As there was not a first XV game this weekend I went to see the 2nd XV at Bestwall against Puddletown 1st XV .
The game was even for the first ten minutes, but a couple of penalties to the visitors saw them go in for a try in the corner. It took Swans until the 22nd minute to reply with winger Luke Spyers scoring under the posts. Matt Spencer converted.(7pts – 5pts.) It was pretty even until just before the break wing forward Darren Penney dived over from a scrum on the Puddletown line. Spencer converted- Half Time Swans 14pts Puddletown 5pts.
Less than a minute into the second period Puddletown intercepted a pass by Swans, and raced 90 metres to score under the posts, bringing the visitors upto 12 pts. 5 minutes later a line out enabled prop forward Jim Petrix to go in for Swans third try, before winger Olly Peters went in for Swans bonus point try.Spencer added the extras.(26pts – 12pts). On the hour mark, Connor Moag pushed Swans score to 31pts in the corner. Puddletown countered with a converted try after 65 minutes, but Swans were still on the offensive as second row Dan Collins went in for Swans taking the score to 36pts – 19pts. Swans seemed to be heading for an easy victory, but a mistake on the visitors 22 had another interception by Puddletown bringing them upto 26points. Low and behold the same thing happened with 2 minutes to go and the visitors managed to bring their score to 33points. Swans held on to the end Swans 2nd XV 36pts Puddletown 1st XV 33pts.
