NORTH DORSET 30pts SWANAGE & WAREHAM 8pts
In their first game after the Christmas and New Year break, Swanage and Wareham rugby club had to local rivals North Dorset, and they soon found out that it was going to be some task.
From the first minute the ball was kicked deep into Swans territory and from the resulting line out the hosts performed a catch/drive move to score a try in the corner. This was converted.
Swans were giving away several penalties as North Dorset were dominating the possession and after 15 minutes one of these was converted. (10pts-nil).However, Swans were tackling well and North Dorset could not penetrate further,but another penalty took the home team deep into Swans 22 and with another catch/drive after 30 minutes Swans conceded another try in the corner.In the last ten minutes Swans had more of the play but the half time North Dorset 15pts Swans 0pts
From the restart Swans had a couple of penalties, which took them into the hosts 22 but when North Dorset tried to kick the ball clear the ball came to fly half Jamie Foskett who landed a drop goal from ouside the 22 to put Swans on the scoreboard. Swans were having more of the play in the second half and on the hour mark a hack forward had winger Olly Dillon chasing the ball
and managing to touch down in the corner(15pts – 8pts) Soon after this a Swans player was yellow carded and from the penalty North Dorset put their score up to 18pts. The home team took advantage of the one extra player and after 72 minutes powered over the line again(23pts -8pts).With two minutes to go the hosts had a three – quarters move to score a converted try to make the score North Dorset 30pts Swans 8pts.
